Scott’s fitness journey started in the lab – truly! After obtaining his Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, he went on to publish research articles in Spine, The American Journal of Sports Medicine, and the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy. But doing research was slow and “lab”orious work (see what we did there ? ). After many years locked away in the laboratory, Scott knew he wanted to have a more direct impact on the lives of others, and pivoted to being a personal trainer and Bootcamp owner.
Scott was able to help hundreds of men and women achieve their weight loss goals. He quickly realized, however, that knowing how to help others and taking the time to help himself were two different things. Whenever he set a goal for himself, he found work and life getting in the way. Every Spring, he would set the same goal – to get six-pack abs by Memorial Day. Usually, it only took about 2 weeks for Scott to bail on that goal, doomed by thoughts of cookies and candy racing through his head, and into his mouth.
That was when Scott made a couple of key decisions. He realized that having external accountability was going to be key for him – he was providing that for his clients, but who was providing that for him? He hired a personal fitness coach, and he set a goal to do a professional photoshoot on his 40th birthday. This gave him a tangible goal to work towards, as well as the accountability partner and a plan that helped him stop overthinking his action steps and focus on the key things he could do each day. With his new support system, Scott got his butt in gear and got himself in better shape at 40 than he was in his 20s and 30s.
Since then he’s maintained his physique by scheduling regular photoshoots almost every year and has helped hundreds of men and women get fit for photos, too. Scott knows that as we get older, it can be harder to achieve a fitness goal. He works with clients to find the accountability systems that will work best FOR THEM. He’ll help you set tangible goals to work towards, and knows that mindset plays a pivotal role in your nutrition and fitness progress. He’s excited to work with you, meet you where you’re at, and help you overcome that initial “loss of momentum” that happens to so many of us.

Star Wars – “Do or do not. There is no try” is the greatest quote ever.

For my favorite video game, I’m going old school – Donkey Kong. It’s on!
What are you passionately nerdy about?
I’m passionately nerdy about Seinfeld. I think everything that happens in life can relate to a scene from Seinfeld. I also quote too much from it.I’m also passionate about gratitude. I’ve created my own thank you cards. I’ve written a book on gratitude. I give keynote talks about gratitude. I created a gratitude game. I also lead gratitude hikes and adventures in the wilderness. If you like gratitude, I’m your guy.
I’m also nerdy about sports stats. I collected thousands of baseball cards as a kid and even dreamed of being a sports statistician growing up. Even though that didn’t work out, my love of sports statistics remains to this day.
